QBMA's 2011 Scientific Symposium & Pictures

“QBMA, 20 years and counting, motivating black professionals in medicine and research.”

On Friday October 21st, at the Loews Vogue Hotel, Montreal, the Quebec Black Medical Association hosted the 2nd edition of the QBMA Scientific Symposium in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of QBMA.

The Theme was: “Showcasing evolving medical and research directions”

This symposium showcased the medically related research being carried out by black and visible minority researchers and students across Quebec and Canada.

Presenters at this conference consisted of exceptional university students involved in research, some of whom would have applied for or received QBMA scholarships for the 2011/2012 academic year. It was a good opportunity to interact will fellow students and scientists partaking in a wide diversity of medical research.

This also presented an excellent networking opportunity for young researchers, seeing as representatives of our pharmaceutical and corporate sponsors were in attendance.

Message From The President Dr. Elrie C. Tucker

The Quebec Black Medical Association celebrates its twentieth anniversary. Most business analysts  are of the opinion that the hurdles of the first three to five years are crucial in the life of any new venture. Not only did the QBMA succeed in the crossing of the “five year” barrier but it also managed to make its way to the end of a second decade.

In those past twenty years, the QBMA has helped close to 500 bright, motivated and socially involved young people to have access to various careers in the field of health care. Many of them are now active in direct care or in research within universities or private firms. The Quebec Black Medical Association was happy and proud to help them realize their dreams of a worthy career.
